Floor Care and Maintenance

A regular cleaning program will assist in keeping your floors looking at their best for longer.

An electrostatic mop should be used to sweep up dust and dirt from your floor.

In addition your floors will benefit from a damp mop only.

Never wet or steam mop a timber floor as you can introduce moisture which may result in excessive movement or cupping.

Harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners are also to be replaced with a neutral PH wood floor cleaning product such as the LOBA SPRAY MOP.

Here are some more tips.

  • Wait for 3 days before moving furniture onto your floor.
  • Place felt pads under all chairs and furniture.
  • Keep door mats clean and in good condition.
  • Promptly clean all spills and leaks.
  • Reduce intense direct sunlight with tinting or window coverings.
  • Wait a least 1 month before placing rugs.
  • Rotate rugs as floor will fade, darken or change shades over time.
  • Refinish your floor before it wears through to avoid sanding costs.

What is floor care?

Whether you have recently installed lovely new timber flooring or have moved into a home with original wooden flooring, taking care of your floor is essential for prolonging the life and quality of your floor. Floor care includes regular vacuuming, using neutral PH wood floor cleaning products, cleaning up spills immediately, sanding and polishing, and even hiring professional floor care services at least once a year.

How much does it cost to have someone clean your floors?

The cost of floor care services and floor maintenance services depends on a variety of factors including the current condition of your floors, your flooring material and the size of the floor that needs to be cleaned. Why should cleaning and maintenance of the floor be a routine?

Just like any other cleaning-related chore, the longer you leave the cleaning and maintenance of your flooring, the worse the condition will get. Regular wood floor care and maintenance will prevent long-term damage and high costs of replacement down the line.

Please feel free to call if you would like any advice on how to best care for your floor.
